Crokes is an online social media platform for everyone, especially for book authors and readers. Crokes is for those who are into books, who believe privacy is important to them and their personal information must not be collected or tracked, and lastly, for those who need free speech. Everyone’s free to join Crokes.

Do you collect any of my data?

Crokes do not collect your personal information/data and also, does not track you. The only information Crokes collect is your name, and email address that you provide at the time of sign-up. Your post updates are permanently deleted within 15 days of posting on Crokes. Crokes however, temporarily records the IP address at the time of logging in and resetting a password to secure your account and prevent it from being compromised. 

Is there any restriction to posting anything on Crokes?

Absolutely, without a doubt. Feel free to express yourself about anything you would like to share on Crokes whether it be your opinion, data, information, video, or just anything. On Crokes, you have the power to say and share anything you like. 

When will Crokes delete my posts?

Crokes will permanently delete your updates on every month’s 15th and 30th dates. In the case of February, your posts will be deleted on the 28th or 29th. This means your posted updates will stay on the platform and be visible to everyone for up to 15 days.

Do you offer ad space on Crokes?

Crokes offers various types of ad spaces. Some of the ad spaces Cokes offer, however, is not limited to sitewide banner advertisements of popular sizes (728×90, 300×250, 300×600, etc.), book listing advertisements in a sidebar, and on the books of the week page. Can I feature/promote my profile on Crokes?

Crokes allows you to affordably feature your profile sitewide. Promoting your profile helps to gain more followers, and can potentially increase your book sales. To promote or feature your profile, please place the order here

Can I promote my book on Crokes?

Crokes is the best place to share and promote your books as much as you would like. Crokes algorithm is built in a way that if your posted update receives higher engagement, it will be more visible than any other posts on Crokes. On Crokes, people love to read thus, it would never be wrong to spread the word about your book.

What are my options for promoting books on Crokes?

Crokes offers plenty of options to accommodate your book promotion. You can promote your books on Crokes in the following way:
On a homepage either as a leaderboard ad or book listing.
In a sitewide sidebar as a banner/leaderboard or book listing.
On a Books of the Month webpage

How do I place an order?

You have made an excellent choice to advertise with Crokes. Placing an order with Crokes is a fairly simple process. To place an order, head to this link here. Scroll down to the bottom and fill out the form. All the requests are handpicked to make sure it blends with the Crokes community. Once your proposal price and details have been agreed upon, Crokes will send you an invoice for which you could pay the amount. After you have paid successfully, Crokes will place your advertisement on the requested date, place, and duration. 

Using Crokes

What is an Activity feed?

Activity Feed is your home. It is the place where you can see the updates posted by the users sitewide on Crokes. Crokes call this a global feed.

On the other side, you can click on the “Following” option from the same to see the updates posted by the users you follow. You can also access this feed from your profile as well. When you are on your profile, go to Activity > Following.

How do I edit my username?

Everyone on Crokes has a unique username. To change your username, go to Settings > Change Username from your profile. Make sure the username you are after has not been taken. 

How do I update my profile name?

Go to your profile: https://www.crokes.com/yourusername/
On the Tab bar, located next to the ‘Notification’ icon, click on your profile picture with the down arrow.
From the dropdown menu, select ‘Profile Settings’.
Edit your profile name in the ‘Name’ text field.
Click ‘Save Changes’.

Can I post updates with hashtags?

Hashtags are a great way to participate in a particular conversation. With Crokes you can post as many hashtags as you like. However, Crokes recommend keeping a minimum of hashtags per post to avoid being marked as spam. 

What does it mean to favorite the post update?

Favorites are used to show appreciation for a post-update. Some users on Crokes also use it as a bookmark to save the post update. However, the favorited post does not mean it will be not deleted within 15 days. 

What does it mean to follow the user?

Following the user on Crokes mean that you are following their feed or subscribing to them. This means that whenever they post something, you will be able to see their posted updates on your following feed from the Activity and Profile page. 

How do I change my profile picture?

The profile picture is a great way to have a personal or brand identity on Crokes. From your profile, go to Change Profile Photo under the Profile tab. You can set a profile picture by uploading one from your computer or taking a photo from your webcam.

Does Crokes delete accounts?

Crokes maintains the integrity and security of its platform by regularly reviewing and deleting inactive accounts. Accounts that have not been logged in, posted status updates, comments, liked posts, or have not followed anyone in the last two years are subject to removal. This practice ensures that Crokes remains fresh, active, and secure for its users. If you anticipate being inactive for an extended period, we recommend logging in periodically to maintain your account’s active status.
